Post the Twelfth, Personal Observations on the Reliability of this Blogger

Ah, well, letsee, uh, my name is Corey, and it’s been over 40 days since my last blog post.

What the hell happened?

Well, quite a few things, starting with the usual Christmas season stuff, then a dementia diagnosis for my eighty six year old Grandma, and the the general day to day problems that exist when your business isn’t very profitable.

Yeah, all that’s nice, but the rest of us Bloggers do this blog stuff daily and face the same problems you do and still get our posts out! Yes, you do. Very true.

Even on my best days, my grasp of language is tenuous at best. It takes a concerted effort of concentration and will to just write out a few paragraphs. Make it readable? Well, even more effort and will!

This isn’t to say I don’t have stories to tell, most that know me are aware that simply getting out of bed in the morning is a story unto itself, but I’ve been slammed with more than the usual writers block and don’t quite know how to pull out of it.

Where does that leave Corey’s Views? I’m trying. I’ll get back to where I can coalesce the vapors of my existence into viable and meaningful comprehension soon enough. (yes a History of the World Part I reference, see I’m on the right track!)

I think for the most part of lot of my problem stems from the huge input that social media was making in my life. I spent way too many hours simply checking Facebook to see what someone had posted and responding to it. Silly, I know. I could never separate the abject narcissism, voyeurism that is Facebook from my daily life. Its just too pervasive. Because of this influence, my attention was taken from other, more rewarding ventures. No more. I’ve begun paring down my usage and removing the people on Facebook that were taking up too much of my free time and thought.

I especially noticed that while I wasn’t paying attention some of my more periphery friends had gone rouge on me.  This was troublesome, I couldn’t understand this huge shift from normal person to far right of the Tea  Party whack job. When I was growing up I was taught and believed that we are all Americans. Yes…even those loathsome immigrants! That no longer seems to be the case, the country’s belief system has been altered to an almost crazed state of being. When did it become OK for us as a people to disparage the downtrodden? When did it become politically and socially acceptable for us and our leaders to remove rights from other Americans? At which point did the people forget we are Americans first, and everything else second? This is one of the things that bothered me greatly on Facebook and one of the reasons I’ve decided to cut way back on my usage and the friends I kept with. Facebook has gone from being a quick and convenient way to keep up with friends without having to call them, to believe in my political party and ideals or you’re a traitor.

It also gives voice to the crazies that honestly believe 9/11 was an inside job, that the President ordered the Newtown massacre as a way to remove our guns, that killing our enemies with remotely operated vehicles (and thus not loosing one American life in the process) is wrong, and cowardly. As if sending our boys on a holy war in the dessert is desirable… I can’t stand it. I can’t fathom it. I can’t stomach it.

I guess what I’d like to say is; no Mr. Tea Party person, you can not have the ’50s back and I will not stand idly by while you attempt another red scare, you McCarthy lite. Actually McCarthy isn’t the right guy for this insult, better Roy Cohn, if you’re going to be a pig then be Roy, Joe was just a scared drunk.  Nor will I continue to give voice to you, Mr  Nutjob the government is out to get you. Buddy, let me tell you something. The US government is so inept it couldn’t find and kill a six foot five Arab on dialysis for almost ten years while possessing the largest, most technologically advanced military the world has ever seen! Do you really think it can conjure up a mass shooting for its own benefit??

…..clearly I’m working out some anger issues… 🙂

Ok, so I’ll be back in a few days to finish up side 3 of the NY Trip and hopefully with some more material that’s  uh, reasonably current!
